About the Fellowship

Indigo Hill Strategies is seeking a Health Policy Fellow to join our team for a six-month fellowship. This is an opportunity for a current graduate student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in federal health policy and government affairs consulting, working alongside our team on client deliverables spanning legislative research, regulatory analysis, advocacy strategy, and coalition support.

The Fellow will work directly with consultants on real client engagements — contributing to legislative research memos, grant and funding opportunity analyses, advocacy toolkits, and briefing materials for clients that include health systems, nonprofits, coalitions, and associations engaged in federal health policy.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct research and analysis on federal health policy issues, including legislation, regulations, and agency guidance;

  • Draft legislative research memos, policy briefs, and issue summaries for client use;

  • Support development of advocacy toolkits, talking points, and stakeholder communications;

  • Track relevant congressional and regulatory activity, including hearings, markups, and rulemakings;

  • Assist with client deliverables;

  • Support logistics and preparation for Hill Days, briefings, and stakeholder meetings;

  • Collaborate with team members across multiple client accounts and workstreams simultaneously.

  • Bachelor's degree required;

  • Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a graduate degree program (Master's or higher) in public policy (MPP), public health (MPH), law (JD), public administration (MPA), health policy, or a related field;

  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills;

  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with policymakers, advocates, health care stakeholders, and partner organizations;

  • Experience conducting policy research and translating complex policy issues into clear, actionable recommendations;

  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;

  • Interest in federal health policy, advocacy, and improving health care access and outcomes;

  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Coursework, internship, research, or professional experience related to health policy, public health, health care financing, or government affairs;

  • Basic knowledge of federal health policy, including the legislative and regulatory processes;
